Get to Know a Crystal Daily | Lodestone

Welcome to Get to Know a Crystal Daily. In this series, we break down the basics of popular crystals—from their origins to their energy. Today, we’re starting with Lodestone.

Also known as magnetite, lodestone is a black, magnetic stone formed from iron oxide. You will often find it with small iron filings attached to it through magnetic attraction. If this is the case, you should store it separately from other crystals so that it can continue to hold onto those iron filings.

Origin: Austria, Canada, Mexico, United States
Crystal Structure: Monoclinic
Forms: Natural, with naturally attached iron; tumbled/polished (without iron)
Energy: Amplifying
Color: Black
Chakras: Root Chakra
Placement: Near the root chakra; worn as a watch
Properties: Grounding, protection, attracting what you create
Combinations: Powerful on its own
Usage Tip: I recommend always keeping lodestone in a container that provides protection, even while using it.

Feel the good vibes of Lodestone!
